A good day out with D along for the ride

Yesterday was the first day of the Bank Holiday weekend, yippee.   We packed up the swimming things and brought the kids to the gym.

We're members of a gym on the Northside but decided to go to its sister gym on the other side of the city as the kids like the pool there.

D was high in the morning but after a while in the pool it decided to crash (we've noticed that, with any kind of activity, including normal kids type playing that there is a drop into the lows at 12-12:30pm).

K had an emergency snack and we headed to a local shop to get a picnic.    Sugar levels re-bounded and we decided that as we were this far south we'd go on to visit Glendalough.

The bit the kids like most about Glendalough is not the round tower or all the heritage stuff, its the fact that there is a rather old forest and we get to play at the Transparent World (a kind of mix of Harry Potter and old Irish legends about the Tuatha De Dannan).

We would have liked to stay longer but we didnt have Ks pen with us so we had to head back at about four'ish to be home for tea and injections.

A good day out with D along for the ride.

Some wizards and their wands
Forget your Xboxes and Wii's all kids really need are some lines on the ground

Obligatory Round Tower shot

  1. fantastic post and pics! i could read about your adventures all day long, just for the town names alone! we went on holiday to ireland, england, france and germany a few years ago and flew in and out of dublin, so we got to spend a couple of nights in howth and it just wasn't enough. have to get back to ireland again some day.

  2. Thanks Shannon, we're only about 4 miles from howth village, i love it there and from the summit is about the best view of dublin you can get. Great that you got over here for a visit and hopefully it wont be too long before you're back
