K really, really wants a pump.
M has asked for leave from work for the cut-over, we'd like her to be off for 14 weeks (her full Parental Leave entitlement), although we're thinking we'll leave it till June before we make the switch. Its a while away but if we can keep the levels okay it means K will be off school while we settle in and M would stay off until September to get her back to school.
Heading into town Saturday last to see the Christmas market K decided that she'd practice wearing a pump.
She tied a string to her mobile phone and stuck it to her tummy with a plaster. She even keyed in a couple of 'boluses' when sitting down to eat.
She both broke my heart and made me proud that she is taking an interest in managing her condition.

It's funny how a little child can want a pump -- but they do! Love her creativity!
ReplyDeleteOh my... how sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. Hoping you can make the switch soon. Elise has been so much happier on the pump.
ReplyDeleteAs annoying as the pumps can be, it really makes life easier.
ReplyDeleteMy son Isaac started "pumping" in June.. He really likes his omnipod.(No tubing) Wish you all the best of luck when starting on your insulin pump :)
